That means even my favorite time of the year to blog. I love this time because not only can I share the new calendars with you, but I can also introduce you to the design of the new print collection.

What Are Swimtrek Picks?

Last year I refreshed and shared one of my old designs. It was fun to bring it back and share it all again. Designing these new calendars was also a lot of fun. I can't wait for you to see them, so how about we jump on it?

Whenever I sit down to design a new collection, one of the first steps I take is to look at the feedback and requests you send me. I keep a list of them in my planner because I love trying to provide you with printables that you will enjoy and find useful. It's impossible to create something that meets all requirements, so every year I try to focus on something different.

In recent years, the most requested changes have been to create more color and gender neutral print materials. This allowed me to start sketching ideas for colors and fonts.

Six Month Calendar

I really struggled with the color palette. I LOVE color so I didn't want to just design something that was black and white or grey. Then one day I took our dogs for a walk and inspiration struck. In our area we like to walk on forest paths and I was struck by how beautiful the green and brown were, especially with the snow and cloudy sky.

I came home and the calendar design and new print collection finally came together. Inspired by our market, I created a palette of greens and browns. Give a pop of subtle color every month, but still keep the tone neutral.

This year I was also inspired by the simplicity of the design of the planners. Clean lines, classic fonts … this seemed to be the right direction. And so new calendars and also a new collection for printing were created. I call it Forest Simplicity and I hope you love it as much as I do.

Mapping The Journey

Before sharing the calendars, there are a few changes I wanted to highlight so there are no surprises. I posted a question in the Facebook group and used the feedback to make small changes to the calendars.

The first change is that the monthly calendars now start the year on the calendar page instead of the almost blank title page. The second change is that the last page of each calendar is now a dotted grid. I ended up having to make some changes to the half size calendars, so if you like using them, please read the printing instructions before printing.

I'm starting this calendar presentation with the ever popular layout. It's not hard to see why. The double-sided calendar offers plenty of space to plan the month, especially for those who prefer half-size letters.

In the Forest Simplicity design, each month offers plenty of space for notes. Empty data fields are replaced by line sections except for the notes column on the right.

There are no special printed instructions for the letter version. If your printer has the ability to print on both sides, be sure to select Bind on the long edge or Flip on the long edge.

The print of the half version is a little different than in recent years. This year I drew them on letter paper like in the old days. However, the layout of the pages has been designed so that you can turn them into a booklet if needed.

For those who want to print them single-sided, just press print. Cut and punch as usual.

We also have calendars with one page per month. I love this layout. I usually print both letter and semi-letter versions. I use letter case in my command center and half letter is large for sending in my office. It's also the perfect size to hang in a closet, so it's great for students or anyone with a closet at work.

When printing letter size calendars, if you want to print on both sides, I prefer to use Long Edge Binding or Long Edge Flip, but you can also use Wide Binding or Wide Flip.
