Suny Albany Spring 2023 Calendar – Non-binding possibility of early notification for applicants up to the first year. Students must apply by November 15, and completed applicants are guaranteed an admissions decision by the end of December.

The traditional possibility of sliding notification of the applicant's decision in the first year. The deadline for priority consideration is February 1, and applicants who graduate by the end of March are guaranteed an admissions decision. Late applicants will be considered on a space available basis.

The list below indicates the equivalent of a U if a 3 or higher is achieved on the AP exam. AP Assessment Reports will be sent by the college's University Board in July if they are listed on the student's answer sheet. ALBANY – Harriet Tempps has lived in the same house for nearly 50 years, enjoying a view of the University at Albany campus down the road.

One of the most prized features of the years was the trees, a pleasant sight during her walks.

But on a recent walk, she noticed something strange: several trees had red bands around them, and she wasn't sure what that meant. A few days later, Temps found out on a walk – because the trees with the red band were now stumps.

"I was very shocked … I never realized the university would cut down those trees," said Temps, who was academic adviser and assistant head of the school's history department for 13 years. Her family has a long-standing relationship with UAlbany, and she said she has had a special connection with nature for as long as she can remember.

"When I saw them start cutting down all the trees one by one, it was very sad," Temps said. "These were trees that had been there since the beginning of the settlement of the campus. They were beautiful, beautiful, old trees."

The tree removal was the first step towards building a new bus route, which was designed to reduce travel time. The Capital City Transit Authority announced in October on the university's website that it received a $60.9 million construction grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Transportation Administration to build an 8.5-mile Washington-Western bus rapid transit route.

"The university plans to replant twice as many trees as it removes as part of this project," Jordan Carlio Evangelist, UAlbany's director of media and community relations, said in an email to the Times Union.

"Believe me, we don't take the loss of any trees lightly and I understand why the removal of trees can be scary for some people," he said. "We have worked hard to improve the landscaping and greenery in the campus. Over the past two decades and these improvements have been dramatic. But when we think about sustainability on campus, we need to consider the bigger picture. (Bus Express Travel) is an important element of this. We hope others will see it."

The route will run west from the downtown Albany bus terminal through Harriman State Office Campus and UAlbany's uptown campus to Crossgates Mall.

Tempes and several other city residents spoke out against the removal of so many trees in an email to the Times Union.

"I would be surprised if these small trees replace one or two big trees. The whole thing is very sad and I don't think they will do what they think."

Trees should not be treated as old equipment or pieces of furniture placed on the road for transportation, he lamented. "These trees are the institutions of life and they give life," he said.

University officials said they are focused on the benefits of the project and intend to serve their students and the community.

"Big picture, (bus rapid transit) is a great project for Albany — not just UAlbany — and will help increase mass transit ridership and reduce single vehicle trips along this corridor," Carrello said. – Propaganda.

"This is important from a sustainability perspective, even if it seems counterintuitive at first.
