Wcasd Calendar 2023 – Application for School Year 2022-2023 Registration for School Year 2022-23. The year must be completed no later than Friday, July 15, 2022. If you are not a registered student, do so now, as tuition will increase by $25.00 to register after July 15th. To register, log into your Ananta Campus Parent Portal, click More in the left navigation menu, then Register Online. Be sure to add all new district students (eg, incoming kindergarten students) to your current Parent Portal registration application. After completing the online registration application, you can pay the registration fee in the parent portal by selecting payment on the left navigation menu. More information about the registration process can be found here. If you have difficulty accessing the parent portal, please contact the school office. Wcasd Calendar 2023

As our returning families know, last school year began with significant difficulties with bus transportation. I'm happy to tell you that we want to get off to a very smooth start this fall. Also, you may know that there is a shortage of national bus drivers. Durham School Services, our student transport provider, is no exception. Until they are fully staffed, Durham is working with our school district to consolidate two GMS bus routes. Due to this, there is a possibility of a long journey on both routes. Also, Durham does not have a full staff of alternate drivers to field when a driver is out. It could also affect routes across the county. If the bus is late, we will notify parents as soon as possible.

Parents can now log into the Anant Campus portal to view their child's assigned routes. This year we will also pilot a bus tracking app, which will be available in January 2023.

CCSD 46 is committed to strong communication so that parents/guardians can make transportation decisions that are best for their families. We are excited and looking forward to a new school year for our students!

That said, it is possible to know that there is still a national shortage of bus conductors. Durham School Services, our student transport provider, is without exception. It's terrifying to have a child in it. In the seven-day period that began Monday, there was a stabbing at Coatesville High School, an unsolved mass shooting in Uvalde, TX, and threats of violence against a student at Stetson Middle. While the latter can easily be verified at Westtown/E. Goshen Police Department and found to be unreliable, the mere mention of it was enough to prompt parents and community members to push an article about the matter into the Daily Local's Top 5.

So this week we're examining proposed changes to West Chester's security protocols. WCASD's current safety plan was created in 2018 in response to the "national epidemic of school shootings." The plan has three components – physical security measures – things like training, cameras and on-site security; Program Safeguards – These are more preventive, mental health support programs and anti-bullying programs, and legal action.

So what is the change? The West Chester Area School District recommends replacing the Security Resource Officer (SRO) serving at East Feeder Structure and Pierce Middle School with a full-time Campus Security Officer (CSO). Currently, two campus security officers and four security officers are working in the district. The district added a fourth safety resource officer in 2020 after working with West Goshen to hire officers to serve at East Middle School and Pierce Middle School. The district notified West Goshen earlier this year that it would not be moving
