Brcc Academic Calendar 2023 – The East Central Community College Warriors hosted another three-game series at the Clark/Gay Baseball Complex on Saturday, February 26, as the team faced off against Lake Land College and Baton Rouge Community College. The Warriors enter the tournament with a 6-2 record after dropping two games at the Rush Invitational last week. The Warriors took the first game of the day with a quick 11-1 lead against Lake Land College of Illinois. The Baton Rouge Bears and Lake Land met in the noon game with Baton Rouge defeating the Lakers 10-0 before the Warriors and Bears played in the nightcap. He scored five runs in the final two frames to improve to 8-2 on the young season.
Grant Edwards' five-inning, complete-game shutout was the story of Game 1 as the rookie led the Warriors to an 11-1 victory in the run rule. He gave up just one run on four hits over five strikeouts and struck out eight.

At the plate, the Warriors were able to make runs despite not having the hottest bats. An RBI single put Lake Land on top, but a fly by J.T. Vance and an error set it up, 2-1.

Clayton Cook's RBI single made it 3-1 before an error at third plated two more runs. Jalen Ayers followed with another RBI groundout to make it 6-1.
Eli Collins doubled off the wall to add another run in the fourth and a Conner Hicks fly scored another run. The Warriors won the game in the bottom of the fifth when Trey Lewis was hit by a groundout with the bases loaded and Collins followed with an RBI walk.
The Warriors and Baton Rouge tied the Bears after BRCC beat Lake Land 10-0 this afternoon.

Was in the first at-bat when Collins ripped an RBI single in the bottom of the first to plate Trey Lewis' only home run. That lead grew to 3-0 in the third on a Cook error and Vance drove in another with an RBI single.
In the seventh, the Bears tacked on a fielder's choice and a pair of singles, but came back in the bottom when Leighton Jenkins led off the game with a hit. Lewis drove in a line drive and eventually scored on Vance to cut the lead to 5-2.
A Jenkins RBI single, a passed ball and a Cook RBI single put the Warriors up 8-2 in the bottom of the eighth and gave the defense some breathing room heading into the final frame of the night.

The Warrior pitching was outstanding on the night, with Willis and Miles Miller combining for eight hits. Willis got the win as he gave up two runs on five hits in the third and went three innings in the third, striking out eight with one walk. Miller struck out three in the first and second innings, while Ervin Simmons hit three straight in the ninth.
Cook, Lewis, Vance and Kade Turnage all had two hits in the game, with Vance driving in one of the first two runs of the contest.

BRCC receives $12 million investment from Our Lady of the Lake to build new, expanded programs and health efforts

Our Lady of the Lake today announced a partnership and $12 million investment in Baton Rouge Community College. This funding will help build and improve the college's new Nursing and Allied Building and renovate a portion of the college's Bonne Sante Wellness Center to focus on sports medicine and exercise. The new facility will bring BRCC's School of Nursing and Department of Allied Health under one roof and house the college's current nursing, speech and language, surgical technician and physician assistant programs. It also allows the college to add high-demand programs in respiratory care, physical and occupational therapy, and athletic training.

BRCC's new 95,000 square meter building will be built in the Downtown area and will be named Our Lady of the Lake. The state-of-the-art facility will be part of a solution to help fill high-demand healthcare jobs with highly skilled and well-trained healthcare professionals. BRCC hopes to break ground on the new facility this summer. The building is scheduled to open in 2023 and will be able to serve 1,200 students.

For the past 15 years, BRCC's Department of Nursing and Allied Health has provided an outstanding education to students seeking meaningful, rewarding careers as healthcare professionals. BRCC offers 16 different medical degrees and associate degrees, including continuing education programs in health care.
With the help of Our Lady of the Lake, BRCC is able to expand its nursing and allied health programs to more students. The partnership will also serve as a catalyst for the development of the college's new sports medicine training program. The new facility will have increased capacity and a significant presence in Baton Rouge. The nursing program will move from BRCC's Frazier site to BRCC's Mid City campus, where the building faces north on Florida Boulevard, which is currently undergoing a $48 million development in East Baton Rouge Parish.
The Nursing and Allied Health Building is the first new classroom at BRCC's Mid City Campus since 2009. The facility will provide the capital region with thousands of highly trained nurses and allied health professionals.
