Colgate Calendar 2023 – → To open the season, Boston College football will face an unusual opponent in FCS team Colgate. The Raiders missed the field in 2020, while BC, under a freshman coach, put together one of the best seasons in recent memory. The Eagles will return 19 starters and only lost Hunter Long, Max Richardson and Isaiah McDuffie to the NFL Draft.

→ BC has faced in-state opponents just 27 times and the Eagles have won the last 10 meetings between each team. The last time the Bay State rivals met on the road was in 1982, a 34-21 Eagles win. Doug Flutie was a sophomore at the time and the win helped the Eagles to their first bowl game since 1942.

→ The Eagles' schedule this year is all about renewing old rivalries, and in the second half of a two-game road trip, BC will visit an old Big East foe. Temple is a recent opponent of BC, the old football of new Eagles athletic director Pat Kraft, as the two teams last met in 2018 at Alumni Stadium. BC, however, has not visited the Owls since September 18, 2004, exactly 17 years before they returned to Lincoln Financial Field.

→ It will be the first time since Halloween 1987 that a member of the Southeastern Conference will visit Chestnut Hill. BC and Missouri will open the first game of a home-and-home series (ends September 14, 2024) to close BC out of conference. BC is 13-19-1 all-time against SEC opponents. The Tigers finished 5-5 overall last season, including a win over then-No. 17 LSU first.

→ For the third year in a row, BC will travel to Death Valley to face ACC champion Clemson. During the 2020 season, BC nearly upset the then-No. 1 Tigers, leading 28–13 at halftime with quarterback Trevor Lawrence sidelined with COVID-19. However, Clemson bounced back in the second half, holding BC scoreless and holding onto their lead with a 34-28 win over the Eagles.

→ BC's bye week comes at the perfect time to provide a much-needed break after what will undoubtedly be a dogfight with Clemson. In a week, BC will return to Alumni Stadium to face NC State, a team not on the Eagles' schedule in 2020. BC is 10-7, including a 7-3 win at Alumni Stadium, against the Wolfpack.

→ BC has historically struggled against Louisville, but the play of AJ Dillon started to turn things around for the Eagles in 2017. Dillon's 272 yards rushing against Louisville on the opening kickoff put BC back on track and the Eagles won three of their last four meetings with the Cardinals. During the 2020 season, BC beat the Cardinals 34-27 for their fifth ACC win of the season.

→ Syracuse is one of BC's oldest rivals, as the two teams have met 54 times. The Orange led 32-22, even though BC had won two straight meetings. Syracuse holds a 20-9 all-time advantage when playing BC at home. In last season's meeting, BC won 16-13 in the Carrier Dome while Phil Jurkovec played with a separated shoulder.

→ After beating the Hokies at home to open the 2019 season, BC rolled into Lane Stadium last season. The Eagles will look to avenge last year's loss in their opener after two games at home.

→ The Eagles will finish their road trip in Atlanta, their first trip to Georgia Tech since 2012. Because the two teams are split between the Atlantic and Coastal divisions of the ACC, the matchup between the Eagles and the Yellow Jackets, and they lead the Georgia Tech. all series at 7-3.
