FLU season has arrived in our region. Symptoms include fever, chills, muscle aches, cough, congestion, runny nose, headache and fatigue. Symptoms of the flu, COVID, and other illnesses can overlap, so see your doctor for diagnosis and treatment. please keep the student(s) at home until their fever has resolved within 24 hours without the aid of antipyretics. The stomach virus has also been active recently, so we ask that you keep students home until the vomiting and diarrhea have subsided within 24 hours and students are able to tolerate solid food.

Congratulations to Courtney Moore on being selected as a 2022 STM Mother Seton Award recipient! The Mother Seton Award is presented annually by each school in the Diocese of Baton Rouge to recognize an individual in the family and school community who exemplifies the qualities and service of Mother Elizabeth Ann Seton, for whom the award is named. Mother Seton was the founder of the Sisters of Mercy of St. Vincent de Paul and pioneer of Catholic education. She founded the first Catholic elementary school in the United States in Baltimore in 1808 and an asylum in Philadelphia in 1814. Throughout her life as a wife, mother, widow, and religious, Mother Seton was a role model and inspiration. to others who follow in their footsteps. It was ordained in 1975 by Pope Paul VI. Louisiana Lottery Reveals Where Winners Buy Their Tickets
On March 30th and 31st, 6th graders purchased tickets for a chance to be selected as a Q-Baller 2022. The selected Q-ballers gather on Saturday mornings to play a variety of wacky games, make unforgettable memories, and have a great time! This tradition dates back to 2005, when the collected funds were donated to the STM church during Festuk. Since then, the money has been donated to many different charities. To date, 6th graders have donated over $21,000 over the years! This year, the money will go to Samaritan's Purse, a Christian organization that provides spiritual and physical support to places in need, such as those created after Hurricane Ida. This year, a group of incredibly generous 6th graders raised $2,332, which equates to approx. 2 hours of time. Mr. Quantrill thanks every 6th grader (and their parents) who benefited from this worthy cause.

The Youth Student Council sponsors the Spring Cheer Rally for grades 5-8 on March 25, honoring STM's sports teams each spring. The awards were for volleyball, basketball and athletics teams. Lucy Kyle, student council president, opened the pep rally by introducing these teams to the crowd. After everyone was introduced, Lucy led a prayer followed by "The Star Spangled Banner" performed by 8th grader Matt Ash. Jr. Cheerleaders, our Eagle mascot Michael Mauk and DJs Lorelei Robinson and Michael Shittone kept the spirits up with cheers, songs and music. A traditional volleyball match between the 8th grade boys' and 8th grade girls' teams was held for the students. The commentator of the game was Isabella Diodene. Both teams were coached by Tanner Miller, Jaylen Butler and Madison Plachet, and the game officials were Emma Henry, Grace Hernandez and Caroline Bradley.
