Through the Babylon Business Boot Camp, Baylon of Babylon IDA is reaching out to businesses in our region that have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. As part of this program, registered companies have access to interactive workshops, educational webinars, business support systems (mentoring), networking opportunities and more. Businesses must be located in Baylon of Babylon to qualify and the applicant must be a business owner. Visit this page to sign up.

Covid 19 Business Assistance

The Boot Camp program started with an online lesson last August that had a special guest: motivational speaker Rudy Ruettiger, who won the hearts of many as a member of the Notre Dame varsity team and served as an inspiration to fame. As more businesses need to integrate and upgrade their online systems due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Babylon IDA has introduced a new rebate program to help with the associated costs. Businesses that need to hire a photographer, purchase equipment such as a camera or lighting, or other equipment or services that will improve customer relations through websites and other online stores can apply for a rebate of up to $100.

This $100 digital presence grant is part of the city's larger Babylon is Back initiative, which aims to provide local businesses with the guidance and resources they need during the COVID-19 pandemic. Eligible businesses are required to provide receipts for funds specifically used to enhance their online presence. Each application will be reviewed and payment will be sent to the business owner upon approval. To apply, please complete this form.

The Babylon Industrial Development Agency (IDA) launched the Babylon Is Back Emergency Assistance Program. The program, recently approved by New York State, will give the IDA temporary authority to make grants and loans to small businesses and nonprofits that have been adversely affected by COVID-19. IDA will provide financial assistance through the Babylon Is Back Loan Loan and Grant Program. To qualify for a grant or loan, an eligible entity must prove it is financially viable by March 7, 2020, the date Governor Andrew Cuomo signed Executive Order 202 declaring a disaster emergency. Eligible organizations must also do business in an IDA-served area that has been adversely affected by COVID-19 and have fewer than 51 employees. Click here to find out more.

Babylon IDA has prepared $175,000 that will be given to local small businesses that have earmarked funds for personal protective equipment for their employees and businesses. Babylon understands that common sense hygiene and the use of PPE will play an important role in ensuring our successful and secure financial recovery. In addition, $25,000 was available to purchase and distribute PPE to local small businesses facing supply issues to act as a precautionary measure so they can work safely until they get the right equipment. Through the New York Forward Loan Fund, the Babylon IDA, in partnership with the Town and Villages, has provided $2.5 million in loans to small businesses throughout Babylon. These loans provide working capital to businesses adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic that could not benefit from the PPP program. Babylon businesses are encouraged to apply for the program here and select the National Development Council as their CDFI when applicable.

Phase II of the region's COVID-19 recovery plan allows businesses to open for outdoor dining. Baylon of Babylon – in collaboration with the IDA of Babylon and the mayors of the cities in the area – has simplified the process of permitting outdoor dining by going through the bureaucracy to get permits into the hands of a qualified business owner in sufficient time. The software is clear, fast, simple and free. Restaurants can apply for take-out here.

Thanks to a generous donation of 1,000 face shields from L3 Harris, a North Amityville manufacturer, The Town of Babylon, along with the Babylon IDA, was able to supply local hair salons and barbers with much-needed PPE for free. This generous donation of essential goods has prepared businesses to reopen safely as the area enters phase two. Babylon IDA is working hard to get these shields into the hands of local businesses. On March 20, 2020, New York State received a Major Disaster Declaration FEMA-4480-DR from President Donald Trump for the COVID-19 event. U.S. The Small Business Administration (SBA) has instituted a disaster declaration for New York that provides financial disaster loans (EIDLs) to small businesses in New York State. EIDLs aim to provide capital loans to help small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small fish farms and many private non-profit organizations of all sizes meet their critical and unmet financial obligations as a direct result of the disaster. The federal government also passed the CARES Act. The stimulus package offers support to companies with fewer than 500 employees.

The US Small Business Administration (SBA) has announced information about the Restaurant Promotion Fund (RRF), including application requirements, eligibility and program guidance. This program will provide financial assistance to small restaurants that have been hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Through the RRF, eligible restaurants will be awarded funding to match their disaster-related revenue loss of up to $10 million per year. company and not more than $5 million per physical location.
