Ttu Calendar 2023 – BATON ROUGE – The LSU men's basketball team will host Texas Tech on Jan. 28, 2023 at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in the 10th annual SEC/Big 12 Challenge, each league office announced Thursday.

The times and grids for the 10 matches will be announced at a later date on that day.

This year's event features all 10 teams from the SEC Big 12 and 10 of the 14 member agencies. All 10 SEC teams participating in the 2022 Challenge will participate in the 2023 event.

The SEC won the ninth annual Big 12/SEC Challenge, winning six of 10 games on January 29, 2022. The SEC won its second challenge in a row. The SEC lost just once in six years.

This year marks the eighth year that the one-day format was included in the championship calendar of the participating teams. The first two years of the challenge were held over several days in November and December, but the last eight events were combined into one day in January. ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU will join forces to televise the tournament.

It will be the ninth time the Tigers and Texas Tech have met, including the dual in the year of the Challenge. Texas Tech went 5-3 in their last Challenger meeting, 76-71 in January 2021. The Red Raiders are coming off a season that advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third straight year for the first time in program history after going 9-8 in conference play. TTU went 5-4 at home in Big 12 play last season, including winning three straight to end a home schedule against Texas, TCU and Iowa State.

Texas Tech opens and closes the Big 12 schedule with a game against Oklahoma State. The Red Raiders host the Cowboys on Saturday, Jan. 1, before heading to Stillwater on the final day of the regular season for Saturday, March 5 at Gallagher-Iba Arena. The Red Raiders' first Big 12 game begins with a trip to Ames to face Iowa State on Wednesday, Jan. 5 at Hilton Coliseum. Tech will host the USA Cyclones on Tuesday, Jan. 18 in the second game. The Red Raiders swept the game last year, scoring more than 20 points in each of their last four games during a five-game winning streak against ISU. ISU leads the series 20-19 and the Red Raiders lead 12-6 heading into the game in Lubbock. Iowa State this season has T.J. Otzelberger, who is in his first season in Ames after two years at UNLV. Otzelberger enters his sixth season as head coach after three seasons at South Dakota State. His career record is 99-63.

When the Jayhawks travel to Lubbock on Saturday, Jan. 8, Texas Tech will look to snap a four-game losing streak against Kansas. The Red Raiders travel to Lawrence on Monday, January 24th. TTU and KU opened the Big 12 regular season on December 17, 2020, defeating the Jayhawks Red Raiders 58-57. -15 plays before KU's 67-61 win in Lawrence in mid-February. Texas Tech beat KU 91-62 on February 23, 2019 to make it 39-6 in the series. Since 2010, Kansas has won 22 of its last 24 games. The Jayhawks are led by Bill Self, who enters his 19th season in Lawrence after coaching at Illinois, Tulsa and Oral Roberts. Self's career record is 729-223.

The Red Raiders travel to Waco to face Baylor on Tuesday, January 11th in the first game of the 2021 National Championship before hosting the USA Bears on Wednesday, February 16th. The defending national and Big 12 champions have won four straight against the Red Raiders, including last season's 68-60 victory in Lubbock. Texas Tech won 80-62 at home for a 46-21 all-time series lead. The streak began with a 38-28 victory over the Red Raiders in Oklahoma City on January 2, 1937. Baylor was coached by Scott Drew, who entered his 19th season in Waco after one season at Valparaiso. Drew led the Bears to a 28-2 record last season and defeated Gonzaga for the 2021 national championship.

The fifth game of the Red Raiders' Big 12 schedule takes the team to Manhattan, Kansas, for the first game against Kansas State on Saturday, Jan. 15. Texas Tech's final game will be in the US a month later when they host KSU on Monday, February 28th. The Red Raiders enter the 2022 Big 12 season with eight wins in their last 10 games, including three of the last four seasons in the playoffs — home and away against the Wildcats. TTU posted an 82-71 home victory in its fourth Big 12 game of the season on January 5, 2021, and followed up with a 73-62 win at Fred Bramlage Coliseum. Despite its recent success, Kansas State still holds a 24-22 lead in the all-time series. TTU is 14-7 at home against KSU, despite the Wildcats' seven-game winning streak. KSU is led by Bruce Weber, who enters his 10th season with a 300-170 record. Weber is entering his 24th season as a head coach, having previously played at Southern Illinois and Illinois.

The Red Raiders and Mountaineers will meet for the first time in Lubbock on Saturday, January 22nd before TTU heads to West Virginia at the WVU Coliseum on Saturday, February 5th.
