Sbisd Calendar 2023 – The Spring ISD Board of Trustees approved the 2021-22 academic calendar on Tuesday, with students beginning classes on August 11. They have 2021 and will finish school on Thursday, May 26, 2022.

The approved calendar was one of two options presented to staff and the community for input in a survey of more than 4,100 people. Both options were the same except for minor differences in the start and end times of the school year and spring break.

Specifically, according to the approved calendar, winter break begins on December 17 for students after a half-day of instruction. And finish with going back to school on Tuesday, January 4. On March 11, classes will resume on Monday the 21st.

Spring ISD's Advisory Committee on Education (ACE), which includes staff and educators, recommended goals and guidelines before the state announced two community goals. As Spring Branch ISD plans to move forward with renovation plans, teachers, parents and administrators have mixed feelings about returning to the classroom during the pandemic.

"I don't know if I like any of the options and frankly, in a pandemic, there are good options," Oblat said. "You are asked to choose between bad, very bad and the worst."

On July 15, SBISD released its LearnSBISD School Restructuring Plan, a plan that allows families to choose in-home or distance learning classes before school starts. Families have until July 31 to respond to SBISD with their decision.

"If you're a single parent who has two jobs or a multi-parent family where they have more than one job to support themselves, they don't have the flexibility to choose," Oblat said.

For many district teachers, it is a viable option to redo their teaching in one way or another. Teachers have described the SBISD district as better prepared than other Houston districts because of the SBISD's back-to-school preparations since March.
