2023 Umd Calendar – The University of Maryland College of Information Studies, UMD's iSchool, is a premier research and teaching college in information science located outside of Washington, DC. We are a vibrant and diverse college with over 1,800 students (29% from underrepresented groups, 44% women) from 37 countries. We offer STEM OPT certified Bachelor's Degrees in Information Science (BSIS), Masters in Human-Computer Interaction (HCIM) and Information Management (MIM), and PhD in Information Studies. The University of Maryland Wind Orchestra (UMWO) was founded in 2008 to offer the best undergraduate, MM and DMA students the opportunity to participate in an ensemble of professional caliber with the aim of furthering their preparation as artists orchestral and chamber music professionals. All wind, brass and percussion players rotate between the UMWO and the UMD Symphony Orchestra during each four-week concert. In its five-year history, UMWO has performed in collaboration with leading professional ensembles such as the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, the Eighth Blackbird and Imaniwinds.

The University of Maryland Jazz Ensembles performs representative music from the traditional jazz repertoire, as well as new compositions and arrangements by UMD students and faculty. Over one hundred students perform in various UMD jazz bands. Jazz Ensemble UDC is one of three elite bands invited to perform each year at the Calvin Jones Big Band Jazz Festival, one of the most anticipated events on the Washington DC jazz calendar and often broadcast on BET Network.
